Commercial first
Technology has to solve a real business problem and create a useful outcome.
About Martin
My work sits across business building, technology, commercial transformation and operating companies. I am most useful where something complicated needs to become clearer, more capable and commercially usable.
01. The story
I tend to work where organisations are complicated, processes are inefficient, technology is underused, or an idea needs turning into something commercially usable.
Across consulting, technology, automation, operating businesses and venture development, the common thread is building practical systems around real problems — not technology for its own sake, and not strategy that stops at a slide deck.
That has naturally led to a role that sits between executive leadership and hands-on building: shaping direction, assembling capability, testing opportunities and turning ideas into operating businesses, products and systems.
02. How I work
Technology has to solve a real business problem and create a useful outcome.
I prefer creating working systems, ventures and operating models rather than stopping at recommendations.
Strategy, technology, operations, people and commercial execution work best when designed together.
The aim is to create organisations and systems that keep working beyond a single project.
03. Leadership
As Group Managing Director of The Raeburn Group, I oversee strategic direction, business development, technology, venture development and group-level opportunities.
The role is deliberately broad. It means looking across operating businesses and new ventures, identifying where the Group can create value, deciding where shared capabilities should sit, and making sure strategy connects to execution.
