Future of Work
AI agents will change management before they replace jobs
The first major organisational impact of agents may be how work is coordinated, delegated and reviewed.
Management contains a large amount of coordination: gathering status, routing work, checking completion, preparing information and reminding people what happens next.
Agents can absorb some of that coordination earlier than they can replace complex roles. That shifts the manager's job toward judgement, prioritisation, coaching and exception handling.
The organisations that benefit will redesign management routines rather than simply giving every employee another chat interface.
